Best sushi in Sarasota,fresh and taste!the new owner very nice and creative!

Utamaro has the best sushi in Sarasota, period. Brian, the chef owner, is a very accomplished chef with impressive technical skill, engaging personality, and delivers genuine hospitality. Utamaro has now become one of our weekly standards. We have stopped ordering off the regular menu and now we only go with Brian's recommendations, based on what he's procured that day, like Queen Snapper, which isn't always available. Or sometimes he will just make us something special. I highly recommend.

Fantastic sushi and creative rolls at a great price. Definitely worth trying, I will be back again for sure.

I have been enjoying sushi for over 30 years and have learned to recognize sushi chefs who take pride in their craft. Brian takes tremendous care to serve the freshest and the most beautiful sushi for real sushi lovers. Utamaro is a true gem in Sarasota. You will enjoy a delightful experience comparable to any sushi restaurant in Manhattan or other large cities. Once you experience Utamaro, you will not be satisfied anywhere else in town. The best!

Very good food with outstanding taste and presentation, in particular the Dragon Roll and the Lion Fish Roll. Great service and very kind personnel throughout the restaurant.

Only thing I want to complain is too many Choices and specials change too often!if you love sushi,you won't disappointed here!5 🌟+

Fish was fairly fresh. Freshest sushi I have had in Sarasota so far. Atmosphere is a little dark and dated but I'd definitely do take out from here. Staff was frendly. Nigiri was tasty and the maki had big chunks of fish inside and on top which is always great to see when many rolls tend to have too much filler. Got the following rolls which were all great: Big eyes, Queen roll, Sarasota roll, Twins roll.

I've never tried Ramen before, happy my first time was here. It was really really tasty.

Shared a wonderful meal here with friends! Loved the atmosphere. Service and staff were excellent, and everything was prepared superbly! Found a new spot downtown!

For those you stuck at home during thus quarantine looking for some really good take out sushi look no further. The owner is very friendly and the food is superb. I will definitely be returning soon.

I am so thrilled that we found this restaurant. We have been searching for a good quality traditional sushi restaurant for awhile now. If you like excellent quality food and service, you have to try this restaurant. The restaurant is simple and clean. The owner was so nice. He made us a special small app and encouraged us to try some wahoo sashimi which was amazing. Our server was cute, happy and so helpful. The portions are generous and if you’re a lover of sushi that is not cooked (real sushi 😉) you will love it here. We will be back often!!!

My family and I have been to a lot of sushi places around Sarasota, but none are as good as here. The owner takes a lot of pride in preparing every dish and I highly recommend for sushi lovers.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, my lady friend and I had two rolls each and they were, all four, fantastic. In fact I am going back again tonight.

Came in for lunch because I was drawn in by the takoyaki and squid karrage- truly delicious and not greasy, and got the steak with ginger garlic sauce which was rich and nutty- still need to try the sushi but this bodes well for a return trip!

I'm a stickler for good sushi, and I have to say this is the best sushi I've had in this area. What separates this place from everywhere else is the freshness of product. When I eat sushi the first thing I notice is the rice. Most sushi restaurants serve day old cold sushi rice. When I bit into the piece the rice was warm and fluffy and full of flavor. The tuna had a dark red color to it which indicates a high quality product. I was absolutely blown away by service as well by the server and Brian Young the sushi chef/owner! They were really nice and I left there with a sense that they care about their customers and the product they serve. I will be coming back here for years.

Best sushi place in Sarasota, this is fact. The prices are good and the fish is quality. I took my friends and boyfriend here a couple times and have loved it. Staff is very kind and helpful too. My Favorite rolls: Bang Bang roll, Friend roll, and Alaskan.

Top notch quality. ..Brian really knows his craft. Absolutely one of top rated sushi restaurants in Sarasota and my main go to when downtown .Great location behind Mc cudys and across from Hollywood theatre.

Got takeout from them yesterday when I was on my way to a friends and in a bit of a rush. Got a spicy tuna roll and a spicy salmon roll and it was ready in about 10min. It was a little plain with just cucumber and wasabi, but the fish was good quality. It set me back about $15. You definitely can get more quantity for the price at other places in town, but if I am in a rush and am looking for quick/excellent service, I’d definitely return!

Our family moved to Sarasota from New Jersey last year and we have been searching for a authentic sushi spot. All I have to say is Utamaro is exceptional and definitely very very fresh. As soon as you walk into the restaurant, you will be greet by the sushi chef/owner Brian, we are so impressed by his Japanese culinary skill and creativity. If you love sushi and Japanese food, you must give this place a try. They also have hot food so don’t worry if you are not sushi lover.

First time in yesterday and I’ve found my spot. Best Sashimi in Sarasota. Brian the chef/owner created an amazing platter for me with some of the freshest and exotic fish that I have had in Florida.

Went here for a sushi date night as out-of-town Chicagoans. Had EXCELLENT service along with some of the best sushi. Our server had great recommendations regarding the freshest selections of the day. Would highly suggest for any sushi lover!

I am a lunch regular here and the service and food is always great. The sushi is fresh and delicious and the lunch specials are fairly priced. Brian behind the sushi bar and Winnie are always kind and make sure my experience is top notch. If you haven’t tried this place out yet I highly suggest you do.

Utamaro is amazing! Not only was the sushi phenomenal but the sushi chef and owner is so friendly and professional. We ordered online and he called my husband for confirmation on a few things. He also sent my husband home with a few sauces he thought I would enjoy for dipping. We also ordered honey chicken which was absolutely delicious. Our daughter gulped up the wonderful miso and was super happy. Chef Brian has unique sushi rolls that pop with tons of flavor. Paradize roll is my favorite and it's so refreshing. We highly recommend Utamaro not only for the exceptional food but also the exceptional, friendly, and caring owner and sushi chef!

My first visit here. I had the spring rolls and the shrimp teriyaki. It has been a long time since i have tasted such fresh ingredients. Friendly staff and amazing flavors. Try the jasmine tea too😃
